The Cozumel Parks and Museums Foundation issues an invitation to participate in its 2015 Sea Turtle Workshops
The Cozumel Parks and Museums Foundation began its Turtle Observation Workshop in July, and it is programmed to take place every night until the end of August. Participants will have the chance to accompany biologists from the parks foundation to document the behavior of sea turtles along their nesting habits. The Turtle Releasing Workshops will also begin on August 15, continuing until the end of October; participants will have the opportunity to observe the little sea turtles break out of their shells, leave their nests and head for the sea. Both of these educational experiences will take place in the Punta Sur Ecological Park and 100% of the fees will be destined for conservation programs.
Fourth edition of Mr Sancho’s Triathlon to be held
Mr. Sancho´s Beach Club in Cozumel, with the backing of the Mexican Triathlon Federation, is inviting triathletes, amateur athletes and the general public to take part in the Fourth Edition of Mr Sancho’s Triathlon which will take place on Sunday August 23, starting at 7:00 am in the beach club’s facilities. As in past editions, this event will offer the SPRINT category: a 750 m. swim, 20 km bicycle race and 5km run; and the OLYMPIC category: a 1,500 m. swim, 40 km bicycle race and 10 km run.

This year the beach at the “Cozumel Meliá Vacation Club” has discovered two nests made by the Caretta marine turtle species. Experts calculate that by mid August 83 eggs will hatch in nest number 001 and 102 eggs will hatch in nest number 002.
“Cozumel Meliá Vacation Club” promotes the conservation of various sea turtle species by implementing special programs with actions carried out on different levels: the beaches are cleaned on a weekly basis, and workers on the preservation project are given special training to make them aware of the importance of preserving this species. All guests are also invited to take part when turtles are released so they can learn about the importance of conserving these members of the chelonian family.

The Cozumel Scubafest will offer a new route for advanced divers this year
This year the Cozumel Scubafest will be even better and will offer new tourist products focused on making the most of the scuba diving experience in the Yucatan Peninsula. The new route for advanced divers will visit reefs on the northern part of the island, the Xicoténcatl sunken ship and Cozumel’s sinkholes. These nine dives require experience and courage, as well as a passion for adventure, and divers must have an AOWD (Advanced Open Water Diver) certification.
Aeroméxico offer direct flights from Mexico City to Cozumel
Aeroméxico, the largest airline in Mexico, announced that starting October 1st it will begin to operate a daily, non-stop frequency withits Mexico City – Cozumel route. This new flight will operate using Embraer 145 equipment with a capacity for 50 passengers.
With this new service Aeroméxico will consolidate its presence in the Mexican Caribbean and Cozumel will become its 46th domestic destination.
